The main objectives in terms of insight, was mapping and understanding young users habits, preferences and relations to both traditional and none-traditional news outlets. Trough a questionaire and a few interviews we gathered some key takeaways, which we could use to formulate a problem statement:
"How can we design an engaging news experience that meets the need for quick, trustworthy updates while also giving the user control and overview over the news picture?"
To provied the users with more control and overview, we envisioned a space where the users could both skim the news surface and dive deeper into interesting subjects. This space would be like a "news sphere" (hence the name), where VG's content is given more space and time to be explored. To translate our ideas into a prototype, we initially used paper a lot. This was very helpful in terms of understanding the flow and challenges of our concept.
Delivery
The final concept explores an alternate VG-space, where both new and old news stories provide users with different form on insights into relevant topics. Watch a demo below.
